WHY JOIN 1ST DELAWARE MEDICAL VENTURERS AND ROVERS?

Do you want to respond to medical emergencies, continuously learn, and make an impact on your community? 1st Delaware Medical Venturers & Rovers gives you the opportunity to earn numerous certifications through our in house instructors. This includes Standard First Aid/CPR, Emergency First Responder, and Emergency Medical Responder.  With these certifications, you have the opportunity to apply First Aid in real life scenarios through our offers of service. To learn more, get in touch with us by visiting our contact page.

Our program is for youth who genuinely want to better themselves and be a part of a great team and community. You do not need any first aid experience. You don’t even need to have an interest in a health care field. The beauty of first aid training is that it is applicable to every sector of work and life. We are looking for people who are ready to commit the time required (at least 2 out of the 3 meetings a month – and attend events throughout the year) and are eager to learn new things and break out of their comfort zone and have fun.

WHAT DO PARTICIPANTS GET OUT OF THE PROGRAM? WHAT ARE THE "REWARDS?"

The most rewarding part of this program is the experiences you get from the various events and activities we do. Members of our program can achieve various certifications in Canadian Red Cross and other agency portfolios like;
  • Standard First Aid
  • Wilderness First Aid
  • Emergency First Responder
  • Emergency Medical Responder
  • Stop The Bleed
  • Mental Health First Aid
While achieving these qualifications members gain volunteer hours to help build towards academic accomplishments. On average, members from our group achieve approximately 500 to 1000 volunteer hours annually that can be used towards high school and post secondary education and awards. Through the MedVent program, many of our youth have been awarded the Lieutenant Governor's Community Volunteer Award for Students at their respective high school graduations and countless others for the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards.

Members also have the opportunity to work on Scouts Canada awards such as the King Venturer Award and the Rover Award which are awards design around the idea of community service and personal development. These awards also align with the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh award system and allows members to work on both awards simultaneously.
